When you’re done knitting, you’ll remove the stitches from the needles by binding off. Binding off locks in each stitch so that your work won’t come unraveled. To bind off, follow along with the VIDEO or photo tutorial below:
-
Begin by knitting 2 stitches.
STEP 1: Insert the left needle into the first stitch knit (Stitch 1). Enter stitch from the left to right.
- STEP 2: Hold the live yarn for tension, then pass Stitch 1 …
- … over its neighbor (Stitch 2).
-
STEP 3: Remove Stitch 1 from the needles, making sure Stitch 2 remains.
Knit the next stitch as usual, so two stitches are on the right needle again. Return to Step 1 and repeat until all stitches are bound off.
Then go to Step 4.
- STEP 4: To end, remove the last stitch from the needle. Cut the live yarn, leaving a 6” tail. Thread the cut end through the last stitch and pull to tighten.
